1 Hotel / 1 Homes

I will be back to 1 Hotel & Homes. The property is absolutely stunning and perfect in so many ways. However, this is an EXPENSIVE spot to stay. You should expect to spend at least $1,200 USD per night for a basic room. I would compare this hotel to The Four Seasons Maui, if you have been there before.

I will speak more to 1 Homes, as that is where I stayed, however 1 Homes and 1 Hotel are attached and share the same amenities. The biggest difference is that 1 Homes is the owned / apartment side, and 1 Hotel is – you guess it – the Hotel.

We opted to stay in 1 Homes as there were 6 girls and we wanted to stay together. You may book our room here.

Check In: From the moment you drove up to the property, you knew it was high end and was kept up. You have a door man and someone who opens the door to your car. You walk into the lobby and it smells like fresh roses and beach water combined. The front desk was very helpful and are very aware that owners rent out there properties by the day.

Room Review: Our room was incredibly spacious and highly recommend. **Check out photos using the booking link above. The room is EXACTLY how the photos show. The room was decorated with Restoration Hardware furniture; some of the most luxurious furniture out there. The primary bedroom had a king size bed and very spacious. The bathroom was large, which consisted of a bathtub and steam shower. There were also 2 sinks which allowed us to get ready at the same time.

In the living room, there was a pull-out couch that was very comfy. Whoever was sleeping on it that night did not complain. There was TV there as well, plus a balcony that had a view of the street (sorry – no ocean view!)

On the patio, there was a table and chairs as well as a couch so that we could all enjoy the outdoors together.

In the second bedroom, there was a queen bed. This space was a bit smaller but still manageable. There was a bathroom in the main room, which was VERY needed, considering there were 6 ladies in this room.

Onto the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen was very spacious and had everything we needed – coffee machine plus espresso machine. Microwave, stove, oven and large fridge. All the basics! The table was large enough to seat 6 people and opened up to the living room so that everyone could be beside each other.

The only negative was that you did not have maid service. I would suspect that the Hotel offers turndown service as well. We had to wash our towels, throw out our garbage – the regular Airbnb stuff. You could still order room service to the room which was nice.

Pool

There are several pools at the resort, all which you have access to.

Main Pool:

The main pool is very chill. There is soft music playing in the background and kids play here. When you walk up to the pool area, you are greeted by pool boys (or girls) who find you a chair, place a towel on it for you and provide you with a jug of water for free (or as my mom says it – included in your price). Every pool has complimentary sunscreen and diapers as well. Kid friendly hotel!

Roof Top Pool:

The roof top pool was a hit; however, their music was house. It is NOT a club but rather a chill, kid-free vibe. You should arrive at the pool for 10am to guarantee yourself a chair. The pool is a long, rectangle pool. It is there to cool off and have a drink, not swim. There is a restaurant attached to this pool called Watr which in INCREDIBLE! The sushi and poke bowl are worth the price. You will have a minimum 18% gratuity up here too. You may sit at a table OR have the food brought to your chair. There are also cabanas that you may rent out. They all come with an ocean view and a TV to watch your favorite sports game.

Lower Level Pool:

Below the main pool, you will find a “lap” pool. I put quotations as you are not going to have space to swim laps in the afternoon as it can fill up however if you love to swim and bring your googles, you may be able to get your swimming fix in.

Every pool has lounge chairs, a bar and waiters/waitresses. This is a 5-star property, so they have thought of everything!

Restaurants:

1 Homes and Hotel does not disappoint when it comes to food. It was extremely difficult to eat sushi back home in Canada, or even Mexico, after being in Miami and at the 1 Hotel chain. The food and drinks are top notch.

Habitat: I don’t believe we tried this restaurant. The signage in the hotel was not great (I assume they underwent a renovation recently and may have forgot about some signs). I don’t even recall seeing this restaurant, but the website says its there and I am sure it is tasty!

Watr: This is the roof top restaurant that connects to the adult-only pool. The sushi is incredible here, but you can not go wrong with any food. This restaurant is also open in the evening with music and a chill, club vibe (no dancing though).  The bathroom is also the coolest bathroom I have ever seen. The views to the ocean are incredible. It is a shared, gender-neutral bathroom that is completely open. The only thing I found odd was that pool guests had to walk through the restaurant to get to the bathroom. I guess guests get a little show while they eat?

Tala Beach:

This is a new restaurant that is located between the hotel and the beach. The floor is sand and it is mostly covered by trees. The vibe is funky and very chill. You have to try out this restaurant while you are there. It is upscale but beachy and different.

I could go on and on about the restaurants and all the different options. To sum it up, you will find anything you need and will not be disappointed by the food and drinks. It lived up to my 5-star expectations. The only thing you may need to be careful about is price. If you stay at a $1500 USD per day hotel, you can bet you will spend another $500 USD a day on food and drinks (per couple).

Until next time!
